We had a busy day yesterday as we welcomed back the Monitor Windmill after much needed restoration. The windmill was damaged in a wind storm in the spring of 2022. Thank you to Ivan Block and his team (brother & nephew!) from Wausau for their amazing work. Thank you to Ralph Mumm and Randy Hampton for their assistance. Findorff Construction repaired the base and will be back soon to paint!

Stonefield Historic Site's Monitor Windmill is beautifully situated in our 1901 farmstead. Monitor Windmills were sold by the Baker Manufacturing Company of Evansville, Wisconsin. It was named “Monitor” for the famous Civil War ironclad ship the USS Monitor. Make plans to join us this summer to see our beautiful windmill!
